Hot,
hot, hot ! This was surely a day of all summer days and for us, the day of
Jimmy`s performance at "Tunisee in Flammen" (Tuni-lake in Flames) which was
the name of the festival. Alongside Jimmy were various artists such as
"Echt", "Lutricia Mc Neal", "The Boys", Guildo Horn and many more. Heiko
and IwI also visited this festival but had to repeatedly cool themselves
down with a dip in the Tuni Lake.
Things were ready to get going at 7.00 pm. After a widly acclaimed
performance by "Masterboy", Jimmy opened up with "To Love Somebody" !
Although this slowish song was great, it was a transition that dropped the
mood a little, however "Lay Down" in its Almighty-Mix was to follow. A
great version of "Why?" succeeded in which the background singer gave her
best and with
which Jimmy triumphed in
bringing up the mood again. The Freiburger (people of Freiburg) seemed to
have gotten to know "Something To Live For" in the meantime and some of the
many kids there were even carried away by "Don´t Leave Me This Way" with the
great "Love To Love You Baby"-intro. Jimmy´s voice wonderfully set off the
end where he closed with "Stone" from the new album. To sum it up: Although
Jimmy gave his best, it definately wasn´t his best peformance.
This was noticed too by us as Jimmy left the stage quite
irritated. It was because the very young audience would have preferred to
cheer on their dull teeny bands and lets not forget about the terrible heat
that dampened the chance of the right mood occuring. As a closing song,
Jimmy sang “Stone” which indicated that after “Lay Down” this maybe also be
released as a single in Germany.
