Cambridge, UK October, 28th 2001

I didn’t sleep enough, I was so excited.   I got up around 6:30 on Saturday, October the 27th.  I left the appartment at 7:15, took the train to the airport. I believed I was going to wait for a plane the whole day because it was the first day of holidays for kids in France, but I succeded to fly at  10:00.  I arrived at Heathrow-London around 12, I took a bus direct to Cambridge. At 21:30 (9:30pm), a taxi brought me to the Junction, Clifton road.

The party was supposed to be fantastic and was mediathised!  It was the 10’s birthday of the Junction. At 22:00 (hour of opening), there were just around ten people queuing. A big black car approached slowly on the parking lot. The driver, Mathew, Gillian and Jimmy were inside. I watched carefully. They stopped 100 metres from us. I stood in front, still.  With my hand I made a Hello sign. Gillian who was next to the window answered.  Then I send them two flying kisses from my lips with my hand, I stood motionless, freezing in the night and they went away.  Inside the junction, with corridors and a big room, there was a stage. People arrived. I spoke to a lot of people. They were coming not because of Jimmy. Why they came? ‘cause it was a huge lesbi-gay party! I didn’t see other fans... It was a very big event.

After midnight there was 2 to 3000 people.  I was waiting for Jimmy, which seemed hours...My legs were becoming so tired. An english gay singer came on the stage, almost naked, sang 2 songs, Boy George appeared and then finally Jimmy. He sang only 8 songs...YOU MAKE ME FEEL, DON’T LEAVE ME THIS WAY, WHY, FOR A FRIEND, YOU ARE MY WORLD, SO COLD THE NIGHT, I FEEL LOVE and SMALLTOWNBOY. That’s all and it looked so much like in Berlin, I took photos.

But the crowd was too big for Jimmy to come among us so I got my coat back and went
outside looking for him...He had already left for his hotel, someone at the Junction told me. He said the name of the hotel but I didn’t clearly understand.  I took a taxi to  go back  to my B&B.  I was sad I didn’t speak or  meet Jimmy, but
I had done something: send him my love and I had
seen him for 40 minutes!
